In 2024, SERMAG obtained the RecyClass certification, issued by the European certification body KIWA NV.

RecyClass is the new European benchmark certification, replacing and integrating EUCertPlast. It is divided into three categories: Recyclability License (for finished products), Recycling Process (for authorized plastic waste recycling facilities), and Recycled Plastics (for materials resulting from plastic recycling).

The scheme is based on the European standard EN 15343:2007, which defines the necessary procedures for the traceability of recycled plastics and forms the basis for calculating the recycled content of a product.

The scope of the certification for Sermag is “Recycled content and Traceability“, meaning it guarantees the recycled content in Sermag’s products and the supply chain, from the waste origin to its transformation into Secondary Raw Material. It also certifies whether the recycled material used is of pre- or post-consumer origin.

The new RecyClass scheme was designed to allow certification of companies that do not directly produce SRMs and recycled products.

SERMAG included in the certification the registered brands RIPLASTENE®, RILETILENE® and RIMAGLENE®.

This is a significant achievement for Sermag, considering the complexity of the certification scheme and the high level of standards required.

The certification process that SERMAG has initiated in recent years brings great transparency to its customers, who consciously choose to buy recycled raw materials over virgin ones, knowing they are purchasing certified, safe, tested products with high quality standards.
