Since 2017, SERMAG has requested and obtained from CSI IMQ Group important certifications for its products: “Recycled Plastic – Secondary Raw Material” and “Recycled Plastic – Plastic from Byproduct”. The first certifies and guarantees the actual legal status of secondary raw material (in compliance with the Environmental Code and UNI 10667 standards), while the second certifies the compliance of polymers obtained from by-product processing with the UNI 10667-1 standard.

In line with the growing attention to quality, safety, and eco-sustainability, SERMAG was the first company in Italy to receive, in January 2020, the prestigious certification “Recycled Plastic – Traceability of Materials” issued by CSI IMQ Group. This license certifies the effectiveness of the traceability system for incoming and outgoing materials, and the actual use of recycled plastic materials. Traceability allows the company to track the history of all its polymers, reconstructing and following the path of each material included in a SERMAG compound or blend, tracing all phases of production, processing, and distribution.

The latest certifications issued in 2020 by CSI IMQ Group to SERMAG include “Recycled Plastic PIR – PCR” relating to the origin of the recycled polymer (PIR or PCR) and the percentage of recycled polymer present within a product or blend.

The acronym PIR stands for Post Industrial Recycling, meaning, as defined by UNI EN ISO 14021, “Material diverted from the waste stream during a manufacturing process.”

The acronym PCR stands for Post Consumer Recycling, meaning, as defined by UNI EN ISO 14021, “Material generated by households or by commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities in their role as end-users of the product, which can no longer be used for its intended purpose.”

The certification process that SERMAG has undertaken in recent years demonstrates great transparency to its customers, who consciously choose to purchase recycled raw materials instead of virgin ones, knowing they are buying safe, tested products with high quality standards.
